TRAINING
CARIN IS AN ORDAINED INTERFAITH MINISTER AND GRADUATED FROM ONE SPIRIT INTERFAITH SEMINARY IN 2019 AND FROM ONE SPIRIT’S SPIRITUAL COUNSELING AND COMPANIONING PROGRAM IN 2022. SHE IS ALSO A 2017 GRADUATE OF THE OPEN CENTER’S ART OF DYING INSTITUTE WHERE SHE RECEIVED A CERTIFICATE IN INTEGRATIVE THANATOLOGY. CARIN HAS BEEN TRAINED AS AN END OF LIFE DOULA BY THE INTERNATIONAL END OF LIFE DOULA ASSOCIATION AND AS A DEATH MIDWIFE BY EARTH TRADITIONS AND SACRED CROSSINGS.
Carin Bonifacino spent the first half of her life working with plants. She was employed at various times as a gardener, a landscaper, a plant propagator, a forest restoration program leader, and as a cut flower grower. In 2005, Carin also founded her community’s outdoor Saturday morning farmer’s market and managed it for 12 years.
However, as a result of her father’s death in 2001, and her first husband’s death in 2014, Carin found herself drawn to companioning, supporting, and walking beside others who are going through these difficult, but also, sacred experiences. She decided to switch careers in her mid-forties to help facilitate healing for grieving people and has been on that journey ever since.
In addition to working for herself, Carin works at Grieco Funeral Home in Kennett Square, PA, as a funeral celebrant, a funeral director’s assistant, and a death educator. You can find out more about the funeral home here: Griecofunerals.com and you can read her blog, “Life is Short: Notes from a Funeral Home” here: Griecofunerals.com/NotesfromaFuneralHome
Carin lives in Chester County, Pennsylvania with her partner, Patrick O’Neill, Harley the dog, and a raft of chickens.
